Masala chai or Indian spiced tea is loved by many and it also makes a great drink for the cold weather. Infused with spices, the tea not only smells and tastes great but also has immunity-building properties. Craving for that hot cup of perfect masala chai? Below is the recipe-
RECIPE FOR MASALA CHAI:
- 2 cups water
- 2 teaspoon black tea leaves (we used assam tea )
- 2 cups milk or non dairy milk
- sugar or honey to taste
Spices or use a homemade masala chai spice mix >>
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4-6 green cardamoms pods
- 1/4 tsp grated fresh ginger
- 2-4 black peppercorns
- 3-4 cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon fennel seeds
- coriander seeds
- vanilla seeds
- bay leaves
- Star Anise
In a saucepan, add water and black tea.
Add in all the spices (powder or whole and ginger sliced)and sweetener and let it simmer for around 4-5 minutes until all the flavors are thoroughly infused.
Strain and add in milk. If you like strong tea, add less milk depending on how you like it.
