Benefits of green tea –
Green tea is rich in antioxidants as well as enzymes, amino acids, and phytochemicals like polyphenols. It also contains B vitamins, foliate, manganese, potassium, magnesium and caffeine.
The effective way to fight weight loss is green tea. The tea contains antioxidants including EGCG that have demonstrated healthy heart and weight loss benefits.
The active ingredient in green tea has anti-inflammatory properties that has been shown to reduce inflammation.
The tea may also lower the risk of heart disease by regulating blood pressure.
How to make green tea –
Green tea should be brewed properly to avoid any bitter taste or any side effects. Green tea is widely available in lose tea leaves, tea bags and powder form. To make the perfect cup of green tea, follow these steps –
- Use purified or filtered water, Take 2 glasses of filtered water in a saucepan and bring it to boil.
- Remove from the heat and then let it sit for about 60 secs to cool the water down. For the best green tea taste, brew with hot water, not boiling water. The temperature of water should be between 160-180 F to avoid the bitter taste.
- Cover the tea kettle or tea cup and allow the tea steep for 3-5 mins. Consume warm.
To enhance the taste the green tea, add 1 tbsp of honey to it or 1 tbsp of fresh lime juice to it. Stir it and sip your green tea. It is advisable to go with 3-4 cups of green tea everyday for better results. To make iced green tea, let the tea completely cool down and serve with ice.
Best time to have green tea –
After Breakfast – Do not take your tea very early in the morning on an empty stomach as the caffeine in it can lead to dehydration. This could stimulate the release of gastric acid which can cause stomach upset or even ulcers. Have a healthy breakfast and follow it up with green tea.
Before workout – Drink green tea at least half an hour before exercise. It has been found that green tea can improve your performance level and help you to last longer. It will help you to lose weight and burn fat!
Before or after meal – Drinking green tea immediately after meals can inhibit nutrient absorption which is caused by the caffeine and tannins in green tea that act as an obstruction. You may have your green tea 45 mins-1 hour before or after your meals.
Before bedtime – If you are drinking green tea in order to lose weight, drink it 2 hours before you hit the bed. Drinking green tea before bedtime will burn the fat while you are asleep. However, if you do not intend to take green tea for weight loss, you may discover that the caffeine content may affect your ability to sleep. In this case, you should avoid taking it just before going to sleep at night
Detox water – Brew a strong cup of green tea and let it cool down. Fill 1 bottle with water and add green tea to it. Sip this water throughout the day.
