Green tea is quite known for its health benefits and also is found as a dominant ingredient in a lot of commercial beauty products these days. Green tea has great detoxing properties and so good for your skin and hair! You do get green tea oil commercially but is quite expensive and you never know if it’s pure or if it contains a carrier oil. Here we have a homemade recipe for green tea oil that can be directly used on skin and hair. Also sharing some of our favourite green tea oil benefits and uses-
RECIPE FOR GREEN TEA OIL:
Infusion method- This method takes almost a month to prepare green tea oil but is potent than the one made with heat method. To make green tea oil by infusion method, simply add 1 cup jojoba oil in a jar along with ½ cup green tea dried leaves. Mix and secure the jar with an air-tight lid. Place it in the sun throughout the day and in dark overnight. Shake it occasionally. After a month, strain the oil and store in an amber bottle.
Heat method- This method takes almost 30 minutes to prepare green tea oil. To make green tea oil by heat method, simply add 1 cup jojoba oil in a bowl along with ½ cup green tea dried leaves. Mix and put it on a double boiler with a lid for 30 minutes. Turn off the flame and let it completely cool down. Strain the oil and store in an amber bottle.
BENEFITS AND USES:
HAIR OIL – Green tea oil is rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds! It makes a great oil for acne-prone skin and calms down any irritation. Use a few drops to massage your scalp before bedtime or after a shower. Use a few drops after hair wash. It helps fight dandruff, soothes the scalp and adds a healthy shine to hair. Add few drops in your hair mask.
HAIR SPRAY – To make a hair anti-oxidant rich and moisturizing mist, simply add 2 tablespoons green tea oil to 1 cup witch hazel and transfer to a spray bottle. Shake well before misting n hair, scalp and skin.
