Masala milk also called as ‘spiced milk’ or ‘masala doodh’ is a delicious hot milk preparation that contains turmeric, aromatic spices with sweet liquorice notes and dry fruits. The milk is traditionally made during Indian festivals but can be enjoyed any time of the year! Below is how you could make this milk:
RECIPE FOR MASALA MILK:
Things you need-
1 ½ cups milk
½ teaspoon nutmeg powder
½ teaspoon cardamom powder or 4-5 cardamom pods
A pinch of turmeric
4-5 tablespoons of crushed nuts or nut powder (pistachio, almonds, cashews etc.)
½ teaspoon saffron strands soaked in 1 tablespoon warm milk (optional)
Sugar as per taste
In a saucepan, add milk and heat it on low flame.
Once the milk starts simmering or boiling, add in all the spices and nuts.
Add in sugar and stir.
Let it cook for few minutes and turn off the flame.
The milk is traditionally served in silverware but you could serve it in clay cups or usual glass.
